Strawberries and summer go together hand-in-hand and over the coming weeks many workers will be keeping their fingers crossed that some of the tasty red treats turn up in their office fruit delivery.
Across the pond in California, people are being urged to demonstrate their love for strawberries by taking part in the California Strawberry “Everyday Superfruit” Recipe Contest.
Entrants are being encouraged to send in an original recipe which incorporates strawberries and all submissions will then be judged on taste, appearance, ease of preparation, and how well it fits with the theme “Everyday Superfruit”.
There is an iPod app that people can download if they need inspiration.
The content runs through August and the winner will be given a $250 gift card for Amazon.
As well as being delicious, strawberries are the ideal health snack. They contain high levels of immune system-boosting vitamin C and are also rich in vitamin A, which aids cell reproduction.
