Fruit Guru

Would you prefer to eat office fruit or whales?

Not all of you office fruit fans are vegetarians. Many omnivorous members of society take treats from the office fruit delivery at work.

You might take some cherries from the office fruit basket because you know they’re rich in anthocyanins, which can reduce general pain as they block inflammatory enzymes.

Even if you’re an omnivorous office fruit fan, you probably don’t tend to eat whale meat, but the people in Japan have been urged to eat fruit instead of whales.

The president of East Timor has suggested Japanese people should maybe try to sample fruit instead of eating the highly-controversial meat from whales, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported.

Speaking to the National Press Club during a visit to Australia, Dr Jose Ramos-Horta said: "Humanity, the oceans, cannot continue to sustain Japanese voracious sashimi appetite."

He recommended the Japanese try giving up whale meat for five years, adding: "Why not go vegetarian, why not eat more fruit? We all make sacrifices."

When you’re at work, you might want to heed the president’s advice and eat more office fruit (not that you’ve ever sampled whales, of course!).
