When you take an apple from the office fruit basket it will probably be because you’re looking to keep healthy while at work.
Apples contain vitamin A, which helps boost your vision, so it’s the perfect office fruit to eat at work when you’re sat staring at a computer screen all day.
The disposal of your office fruit apple core is unlikely to trouble you too much since it’s compostable.
However, this isn’t the case if you throw your apple core or banana skin away at the top of Ben Nevis.
During a quarterly clear up of rubbish at the top of the highest mountain in the British Isles, conservationists with the John Muir Trust found scores of discarded fruit.
At the top of the mountain banana peel can take up to two years to erode as it’s so cold, meaning it breaks down slowly, Alison Austin, a Nevis conservation officer with the trust, told the BBC.
John Summer, chief executive of the charity Keep Scotland Beautiful, told the news provider that walkers should take their fruit home and compost it there instead.
So, make sure you eat all your office fruit at work or the office fruit delivery may contribute to blighting the natural environment at the top of the famous peak.
