Office fruit ‘does not affect carbon footprint’

The health-conscious among you probably go to the office fruit delivery to indulge in your daily treat of apples, which can help your vision with their Vitamin A content – great news when you’re sat in front of a computer all day.

But have any of you thought about the carbon footprint of office fruit when eating it?

Mike Berners-Lee, writing for the Daily Telegraph, has been offering people advice on how to combat their carbon footprint by being more energy efficient, choosing greener travel and through picking the right foods.

About one-fifth of Britain’s carbon footprint is made up by food. But, according to Mr Berners-Lee, bananas and apples – some of the office fruit favourites – don’t harm the environment too much.

This is because they are usually imported by sea rather than air, along with oranges, from wherever in the world they come from.

So, you can feel like you’re being eco-conscious as well as health-conscious next time you dig into the office fruit box.
