Office fruit is loved by all, that’s probably clear by the speed at which the treats vanish from your office fruit delivery.
However, sometimes fruit can attract the wrong type of visitors, as workers at Manchester airport have discovered.
Now, green-fingered staff at the airport have been banned from growing fruit because it causes a danger when birds come to the allotments, which are located at the site, and could result in plane crashes.
Under strict guidelines issued to workers at one of the busiest airports in Europe they are not allowed to grow berries or fruit trees in case too many birds are attracted to the tasty wares.
Birds feeding on the fruits could be sucked into planes’ engines, killing the bird and potentially causing serious problems to the plane, as was the case last year when migratory geese caused an aircraft to crash into the Hudson River in the US.
Thankfully, office fruit deliveries are unlikely to cause plane crashes any time soon so, safe in that knowledge, you can eat your fruit at work.
