Despite the well-known health benefits of fresh fruit, a new survey has found that in the UK, 88 per cent of meals eaten tend to be takeaways rather than meals rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, reports the London Daily News.
Londoners are the worst offenders for not eating fruit, with 67 per cent stating that they would eat more if they knew how to incorporate fruit and vegetables into meals, research commissioned by Florida Grapefruit has revealed.
The best city in the UK for fresh fruit consumption is Leeds, according to the survey, as residents munch their way through more fruit and veg than anywhere else in the country.
So if you’re in a workplace in the capital city, you might want to make the most of your fruit basket at work to make sure you get your recommended ’5-a-day’.
