An 89-year-old woman who works in an office has revealed one of the secrets of her longevity to a local newspaper – fresh food and snacks from the office fruit box.
Fayetta Laursen works in a Utah office and from what she says about her health habits, she may get her snacks from the office fruit basket.
Recalling that fresh fruit and vegetables were a staple of her childhood diet, Ms Laursen told the Herald Journal that an important part of being healthy for so long – in addition to friends and family – is that she stays away from packaged food.
"This is where I think people make the big mistake now," she explained. "They live on fast food; they don’t cook."
The mother, who is turning 90 this week, works five hours a day and does not want to leave her job.
Another record-breaking senior was in the news this week as a great-grandmother from Bradford became Facebook’s oldest member – at 104.
According to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, Ivy Bean’s fan page has 16,000 members.
