Office fruit is good for you

Most office fruit fans will have heard the old adage ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor at bay’, but, did you know that eating two can keep cholesterol away?

The humble office fruit apple contains pectin, an antioxidant which reduces cholesterol levels in the bloodstream, something researchers in the European Union discovered after conducting a study into fruit.

Some £11.7 million has been spent on research involving 200 scientists which discovered that fruit is good for you, reports the Daily Mail.

Called Mr Fruitness, a superhero was created using a large proportion of the funding. He was meant to promote healthy eating.

A spokesperson for Open Europe, a Eurosceptic think-tank, was quoted by the news provider as saying: “Ridiculous spending like this just goes to show that the EU budget contains plenty of fat that can be trimmed away.

“In these tough economic times, do we really need a EU-funded superhero to tell us that fruit is healthy?”

Here at Fruitful Office, we already know the benefits of all the treats in the office fruit basket.

Apples are also rich in antioxidants, which can help prevent cancer as they reduce or stop oxidisation, which counters cell and tissue damage caused by free radicals in the body.
