Office fruit ‘far better than junk food’

When the office fruit delivery arrives, going straight for the grapes could be very beneficial for your health as they contain high levels of phyto-chemicals, which act as a powerful antioxidant that fights cholesterol build up in the body.

High levels of bad cholesterol in the body can lead to heart disease and eating healthier food and snacks could counter this risk somewhat.

Up to 40,000 lives could be saved each year in the UK if food manufacturers cut the levels of saturated fat and salt in their products, a new study has revealed.

The report, from the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (Nice), has highlighted ways in which the number of deaths from heart disease could be reduced in the UK.

Nice has recommended manufacturers lower hidden saturated fat levels and has said people should be consuming a maximum of 6g of salt a day by 2015 and 3g daily by 2025.

One way to ensure you eat healthily and don’t consume too much salt or saturated fat each day is to eat office fruit.
