Regularly snacking on fruit from the office fruit basket helps contribute to a balanced diet and can help people maintain a healthy weight, something which an increasing number of individuals are struggling to do.
Experts speaking at a the recent Stockbridge Technology Centre/Horticultural Development Company conference highlighted that the UK is currently facing an obesity epidemic, reports Horticulture Week.
This is costing the NHS millions and impacting on businesses due to an increased number of sick days.
The attendees suggested that one of the ways to tackle this problem is to get people to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Earlier this week, Liz O’Neill, head of communications at the Vegetarian Society, said that for a truly balanced diet people should eat a variety of fruits, ensuring that they get "optimum nutrition" from them.
So next time the office fruit delivery gets dropped off, make sure you select a range of fruits, such as grapes, bananas and apples, rather than just sticking to your favourite.
