Many of you will choose fruit from the office fruit delivery because it’s a tasty snack and healthy for you.
For example, taking a plum from the office fruit basket can help you fend off damage caused by "free radicals", which, when they attack cells, can increase heart disease and cancer risks.
A new study has revealed that unhealthy things like fizzy drinks and cakes can speed up the ageing process, which is something that office fruit does not do.
Phosphate, which is a mineral found in lots of soft drinks as well as cakes, breads and processed meat, can cause skin and muscles to wither and could also damage the heart and kidneys.
Mice were tested by researchers at Harvard University in the US, who found that high doses of phosphate could lead to premature ageing.
"Humans need a healthy diet and keeping the balance of phosphate in the diet may be important for a healthy life and longevity. Avoid phosphate toxicity and enjoy a healthy life," researchers from the study said.
Next time you get a craving for something sweet, rather than grabbing a fizzy drink or cake, you should take something from the office fruit box instead.
