An office fruit delivery could be useful for staff planning to run a marathon, as the food should be eaten in large quantities a week before the big day, according to an expert.
The Metro newspaper says eating fruit – along with consuming things rich in carbohydrates – are an essential part of preparations.
"Top up your stored energy (glycogen) this week. Scoff lots of bread, rice, pasta, cereals, fruits and vegetables," it advises.
Other tips include having a couple of unstrenuous runs as it is "too late" to improve fitness levels and avoiding ingesting too much fibre or fat the day before as these take longer to digest.
This year’s London Marathon takes place later this week – April 26th – over a distance of around 42 kilometres.
Both amateur and professional runners take part, seeing the likes of Olympian Paula Radcliffe rub shoulders with office workers and shop staff.
A total of 34,497 participants finished the race last year.
