In order to maintain good health, people should try and eat a wide array of fruit throughout the day, it has been asserted.
Writing for the Franklin Park Herald-Journal, Toby Smithson says a balanced diet which includes fare from all five food groups should be eaten on a daily basis in order to ensure people are fit and healthy.
He explains this will provide people with the most nutrition for the minimum amount of calories – adding a balanced diet should be complemented with an active lifestyle.
"Focus on a variety of fruits – whether they are fresh, frozen, canned or dried," Mr Smithson concludes, noting people should have between five and 13 servings of fruit and vegetables every day, depending on the calorific requirements.
The NHS offers a number of hints and tips for those looking to increase their fruit intake, explaining a portion is around 80 grams and noting potatoes do not count towards a person’s five a day.
