Eating office fruit is obviously a good way for you to maintain a healthy diet and fitness level.
Some offerings in the office fruit delivery, such as figs and pears, can aid your digestion too. Figs contain lots of dietary fibre, which helps you digest a heavy lunch, while the fibre in pears can help the digestive system function better.
If you eat these office fruits then you may have less chance of developing a pot belly in middle age, which has been linked to higher risks of Alzheimer’s and dementia by a new study.
The research, conducted by scientists from Boston University School of Medicine in the US, has found that people who have large stomachs by the time they reach their 50s, are more likely to have smaller brains.
Apparently, the lower area of brain tissue leads to an increased chance of them developing dementia or other memory-loss illnesses.
"Our data suggests a stronger connection between central obesity, particularly the visceral fat component of abdominal obesity, and risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease," said Dr Sudha Seshadri, one of the researchers involved in the study.
So, if you’re worried about the slightly large bulge appearing around your waistline, you should do some exercise and eat fruit at work to try and fend off the dreaded pot belly.
