Few people probably head to the office fruit delivery because they’re thirsty, but some office fruits are actually very effective at helping to rehydrate the body.
If you eat nectarines and peaches from the office fruit box, they can help replenish mineral salts in your body, particularly potassium, which can be lost if you perspire.
Your body being starved of water could actually lead to your brain shrinking, a new study has found.
Researchers from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London found that if you sweat steadily for around 90 minutes your grey matter could decrease by as much as it would during a whole year of ageing, reports the Daily Mail.
Lack of fluid could result in you finding it more more difficult to think or function, meaning you will probably perform worse at work, the scientists discovered.
However, there’s no need to panic just yet, because the brain can quickly return to normal if you do rehydrate yourself.
The mineral salts found in the office fruitpeaches and nectarines can speedily rehydrate you, so there shouldn’t be too much risk of your brain shrinking if you dig into the fruit at work.
