When your office fruit delivery arrives at your workplace, you’ve got a whole host of different office fruits to take your pick from.
Eating a variety of different office fruits from the fruit basket will help you make the most of their nutritional value, it has been claimed.
Liz O’Neill, head of communications at the Vegetarian Society, said that many experts "recommend eating a wide range of different fruits" to make sure you achieve the "optimum nutrition" from them.
A recent study conducted in the US found that phytonutrients, which are compounds that occur naturally in plants, can provide a variety of potential health benefits, including improved eye, bone and heart health as well as supporting the function of the brain and immune system.
It is believed that these benefits come from the pigments found in brightly-coloured fruit.
Several key phytonutrient families eaten in the diet of Americans include oranges, grapes and strawberries, the study, which was supported by the Nutrilite Health Institute in the US, found.
Ms O’Neill recommended eating seasonal fruits to make sure they not only boost health but also sustainability too.
Taking some strawberries from the office fruit box will not only provide you with a tasty snack, it might also help improve the health of your heart.
