A new government council in charge of healthy eating has released its first report urging citizens to eat environmentally-friendly veggies and fruit at work and at home.
The Council of Food Policy Advisors addressed environment secretary Hilary Benn to announce their first missions as identifying an environmentally-sound and nutritious diet, a way for the government to set an example for the public and a "UK fruit and vegetable strategy".
Retailers, growers and public procurers have already held a meeting on the back of discussions between the organisation and ministers to consider how to best endorse fruit and vegetable consumption and production in Britain.
Mr Benn announced the establishment of the council last October, saying that its creation reflected the growing importance of food policy matters.
It is chaired by Dame Suzi Leather, who said: "These are issues where impact could be felt quickly if the right action is taken."
