People are not going to the trouble to get even two servings of fruit a day, a physician has warned – though those who are lucky enough to benefit from office fruit basket delivery may be the happy exception.
A US physician lamented that his patients do not make the small actions they know will improve their health.
Dr Phillip Snider told Arizona Living that many suffered from "speed bumps" on the road to health and that one of the obstacles was not getting their necessary servings of fruit in on a daily basis.
The medic recommended that this was a minimum target – the goal should be at least five and ideally nine portions a day of fruit and vegetables.
According to the doctor, one serving is a baseball-sized orange, ten grapes or half a banana.
Diet and wellness consultant Sveta Bhassin recently shared another healthy eating tip with the Times of India.
She said a meal should be as colourful as possible as this would reflect the inclusion of oxidant-rich fruits and vegetables.
