Exotic fruits explored

Mangoes and kiwis are among the more exotic fruits now commonplace in people’s diets, it has been suggested.

Speaking to ABC News, shop owner Karen Caplan said there are many speciality items that are no longer considered out of the ordinary.

One of the ways people are including these fruits into their daily intake is by watching cookery shows that give them recipe ideas, she explained.

Those making their office fruit delivery lists might want to investigate such items to see what different snacks and treats can be made from more unusual items.

ABC News said examples include the cherimoya, which is heart-shaped and comes with a unique banana-pineapple flavour.

The Meyer lemon is recommended for desserts and puddings, or as a flavour for salads, while the pummelo has a flesh similar to – but sweeter than – the grapefruit.

Of course, all of these can contribute to the recommended five-a-day that Brits should try and eat. Smoothies and juices are a great way of incorporating these if variety is needed.ADNFCR-2247-ID-19083746-ADNFCR
